OTV: What Genre Do You Write In?

ABL: Read children/teen/mostly adult and write mostly adult/some teens/no children...yet

OTV: When did you read your first book?

ABL: 3rd grade--A Tree Grows in Brooklyn and Mary Lincoln Todd

OTV: In your opinion, what is the difference between romance & erotica?

ABL: Romance is true love relationship, meeting, anticipation, working it out and happily ever after....erotica is sex, more sex, and then some more sex all dressed up but it can be tastefully written to educate/enhance but is too often exploited/distasteful

OTV: How old were you when you first read a romance or erotic book (naming
book optional)?

ABL: Hmmm, there was something being passed around in middle school--7th grade i think...don’t remember title but it was probably erotica if in today’s category

OTV: When do you think it's appropriate for a teen to read romance, erotica, street/urban/hip-hop lit?

ABL: When they are 22 with a college degree

OTV: How do you address sex situations with your teens?

ABL: Honestly/maturely/frequently

OTV: What is the difference between romance and erotica twenty to thirty years ago to romance and erotica today?

ABL: Back then, it was either raw porn or totally square---im remembering finding a copy of 101 sex positions in my parents closet and my girlfriend and i laughing our heads off and im remembering trying to find that old book in the garage when i was married around 24....

OTV: How should young adult authors handle the sex issue?

ABL: Abstinence + education + church + responsible dating, protection against STDs/AIDS, etc.....

OTV: What situations in literature would be taking it too far for teens?

ABL: Promoting sex/teen parenting, etc. in the most subtlest form when values and morals could be the main theme

OTV: What books that talk about sex would you recommend for teens?

ABL: I don't know of any right now.  hope this helps......
